There is always more detail in a digital image than what first comes out of the camera. Detail is a shy component in the photograph that hides in shadows and highlights, and usually must be coaxed into the light; a process called clarification. Once this detail it is revealed, the overall photo appears richer. Clarification is more than simply lightening the image, it is the process of reshaping the photograph's internal tones and enhancing its colors, resulting in greater detail and sharpness.
